NAREDCO will collaborate with NSDC on the NIPUN initiative to train construction employees.

Over 15,000 construction workers have signed up for the government's National Initiative for Promotion of Upskilling of Nirman Workers (NIPUN) project, which is run by the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO).

The National Initiative for Promoting Upskilling of Nirman Workers, or "NIPUN," was introduced last year by Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to train construction workers' skills.

Aiming to certify more than 1.06 lakh construction employees nationwide throughout the course of the year under the NIPUN initiative, NAREDCO has already signed up more than 15,000 of the 32,000 people needed as of February 15, 2023. Notably, more than 18.6% of all enrolled workers are women, it stated.

The industrial group NAREDCO said that the National Skill Development Corporation had selected it as one of the implementing agencies to supervise the project's effective completion.

It further stated that in cooperation with the government, it has set a goal to cover a lakh impoverished construction employees by March 2024.

According to Rajan Bandelkar, National President of NAREDCO, "At the moment, there is no scarcity of chances for qualified labour in the real estate industry, but a lack of skills is a big impediment to employability and paying acceptable rates for the workers."
